How exercise can strengthen your muscles

Muscle weakness is a common issue these days. We spend most of our time in front of the computer. There is little physical activity in our life. This is the reason that slow degenerative changes happen in the body. Our muscles get used to the sitting posture and, over time, they lose their strength. That’s why, when you perform any strenuous activity, you might suffer from fatigue – and in severe cases, tear a muscle.

Such conditions can be very painful. It is better to strengthen your muscles instead. Here’s why:

Oxygen and blood

Our muscles always need a constant flow of blood and oxygen.

  • When we sit in the same posture all the time, blood flow to some muscles is affected.
  • Due to increased pressure on certain muscles, they do not receive sufficient oxygen, which leads to muscle weakness.
  • When you exercise, all the blood vessels in your body dilate, which improves blood flow. Your muscles get the proper nutrients, and their health improves.

Endurance

One of the biggest benefits of exercise is endurance. When you first start exercising, you will easily get tired. Your muscles will be fatigued and you won’t be able to exercise for more than an hour. However, after a few days or weeks, your muscles will get used to this routine. It will be easier for you to exercise for a long duration. If you maintain your exercise routine, your endurance will improve.

Strength and power

With the help of a proper exercise plan, the power and strength of your muscles will improve. You will notice that, over time, the size of your muscles will increase. This is a sign that the power and strength of your muscles are improving. In the beginning, you will be able to lift only lighter loads, but eventually your strength will increase to a level at which you will lift heavy loads with ease.

Coordination

Muscle coordination is also very important. If you don’t pay attention to your physical activity, your muscular coordination will be affected. This is why doctors always recommend exercise to patients who have been bedridden, because they know that their lack of physical activity will have affected the coordination of patient’s muscles.

To maintain a healthy body, exercise is very important. If you cannot afford a personal trainer or don’t have enough time to go to the gym, try jogging. It is a complete exercise that will help improve the strength and health of your muscles. But exercise is only half of the health equation – don’t forget to eat fresh, healthy foods as well!
