Keep Your Little Superheroes Safe This Summer

Its summertime and our little ones are enjoying a multitude of activities as they release their inner superheroes by building their social and recreational skills outside of the classroom. This is a time for reconnecting with family and neighbors, travelling, and participating in fun activities that are building life-long connections and strengthening their core personalities. As we watch their confidence blossom and bask in their growth and their sheer joy, we cannot ignore the fact that they are still vulnerable little humans.

Here are some tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to keep our little superheroes safe this summer:

  • Always supervise children around water as drownings are the leading cause of injury death for children ages one1 to 4 years.
  • Never leave children or pets in a parked car as heat related illness or death occurs very quickly when the body’s temperature control system is overloaded.
  • Protect yourself and your children with effective insect repellants to prevent insect bites and diseases like Zika, West Nile and Lyme disease.
  • Always supervise children around fall hazards such as stairs and playground equipment.
  • Monitor your kids’ social media for bullying or any threatening behavior.

If your child is injured, seek immediate medical attention. You may walk-in for a non-life-threatening emergency at any of our convenient Primary Medical Care Center community clinics, or you may schedule an appointment by visiting our website at www.primarymed.com, or call (305)751-1500 for our Miami-Dade clinic, or (954)289-0000 for our Broward clinic.
