May is International Mediterranean Diet Month What are the Health Benefits of this Old-World Diet?

Each year, during the month of May, the Oldways Mediterranean Food Alliance, celebrates International Mediterranean Diet Month (#MedMonth), to highlight the culinary flavors and the vast health benefits of the Mediterranean Diet. U.S. News and World Report ranked the Mediterranean Diet #1 in Best Diets Overall for 2019 among 41 that were evaluated for being nutritionally sound with diverse foods and flavors. University Health News lists the following among the health benefits of the Mediterranean Diet:
